International experience coming in summer 2009 for MBA students

Future MBA students in Price College at the University of Oklahoma will have a unique opportunity to acquire international experience through a program made possible with a gift from Archie Dunham, former chairman and CEO of ConocoPhillips, and his wife, Linda.

Initially, students in the Archie and Linda Dunham MBA Scholars Program will study in London which, as a world financial center, provides an ideal combination of leading business school options and internship opportunities with both global financial institutions and multinational corporations, while providing students with a living experience in a large, diverse and culturally rich environment. Price College’s ultimate intention is to expand the Dunham Scholar’s model to other global commercial centers in China, Japan, Russia, India, Argentina, Poland, Costa Rica, Singapore and South Africa.

“In creating this program, Linda and I saw wonderful opportunity to help the University of Oklahoma, which has been such a meaningful part of our lives for many years. We also wanted to make an impact on the MBA program because of the skills it imparted to me when I was a graduate student in 1965. I am confident that the OU MBA degree contributed greatly to my success at Conoco and later ConocoPhillips,” said Dunham, who earned his undergraduate degree in geological engineering in 1960 and his MBA in 1965, both from OU.

Students selected as Dunham Scholars will learn and grow through coursework at the London School of Economics, internships at some of the world’s leading companies, and valuable life experiences gained by living in one of Europe’s most vibrant cities. The Dunham Scholars Program will allow students to emerge from their experience in London with a broader grasp of the global economy and a better command of the skills required to excel in a highly competitive international environment. The program’s first class of Dunham Scholars will travel to London in summer of 2009.
